What We Believe

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth, and in Jesus Christ, the Father's only begotten Son, our Lord, born of the virgin Mary, to be both Son of God and Son of Man, who was crucified, dead and buried, and who rose from the dead, to save us from death.  For this was God's will for His people, his creation, "for God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

We believe that the Bible is the perfect inspired word of God.  We believe its testimony and that it points to the truth.  "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him" (Jesus Christ) (John 3:17).  Now, Jesus Christ, the risen Lord, sits at the right hand of God and will return to judge the living and the dead.

"Light has come into the world", and we hope that all may come to realize this.  We believe that such a realization, this Faith, is given by God through the Holy Spirit.  We believe in a holy catholic church and the communion of the Saints.  We believe we are obligated to sow the good news of the Gospel wherever possible.  We believe that through Jesus Christ all our sins are forgiven and are therefore heirs to everlasting life and will be crowned with steadfast love and mercy.

We believe that we must testify to this truth as summarized in the Three Forms of Unity :

The Belgic Confession

The Heidelberg Catechism

The Canons of Dort

How do we know all of this?  Because of the public testimony that is the word of God.

We believe that we are saved and that we must do our best to love one another with praise and thanksgiving.   "Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another" (1 John 4:11).
